about

what is a fanlisting?

Basically, a fanlisting is what its name implies - a list of fans. Fanlistings exist for many, many subjects: movies, music, foods, tv shows, actors (as in this case), and just about anything else one would be a fan of. It's a place where fans have their name and country listed (and, optionally, their website link and email address), just as a way of saying "hey, I'm a fan of ____, too!" It's kind of a nice way to see how many people out there are fans of the same things as you (and in the case of very obscure things, it makes you feel less weird).

This particular listing is for fans of the late comic genius Phil Hartman. Whether you loved his work on Saturday Night Live, NewsRadio, his many voices on The Simpsons, his films, or anything/everything else... this is the place for you.

why the name, "Chameleon?"

If you're a fan of Phil's, you probably already 'get' the title, but I'll explain just in case. A chameleon is an animal that can change colors to blend in with its surroundings, and Phil was like the human version of that. Many times on Saturday Night Live, it was hard to tell who was playing a character, because Phil transformed himself so completely. It was almost like he was, in his own words, "channeling" the person, rather than just acting like/sounding like them. Phil got a kick out of being kind of anonymous and famous all at once because of this talent. In fact, a lot of times, fan mail would arrive at the SNL studios addressed to "whoever plays Bill Clinton," or "Phil Blartman," because people just didn't know.
